Woven

Hidden within both images of Sedge we find hidden meaning, I reference the weaving carried out by the prehistoric Glastonbury Lake Village and the woven nature of our interconnectedness with Sedge and peat, the fabric of archive.  With the first image we witness a freshness and optimism, something young, new and ‘green’.  The second image in black and white, here I speak of old bones and time passing, the freshness of youth has passed, and the Sedge is preparing to decompose and return to its origins in the black peaty soil.

Each image contrasts with the other, old and new, life and death, fresh and stale, referencing the circular nature of Sedge.
